An experienced food scientist in the dairy, seafood, meat, and soft drink industries, Elyse served two terms in the Peace Corps helping promote sustainable food security solutions. As Communication Officer for the University of Hawai'i Solar Decathlon Team she worked diligently to present the state of Hawai'i as a world leader in research and development in green technologies. Elyse is an engaged and passionate member of the science, technology, and social media community in Hawai'i.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. 2011 TEDxHonolulu で登壇した、Elyse Peterson。
実は、今、この９月１６日に京都で開催される、TEDxKyoto のボランティアをしていて、同じチームになった、奈良で Cafe Wakakusa を経営してるマスターのところに相談に行ったらマスターが、「今日な、TEDxHonoluku っで喋ったことがある女の子が来るねんよー。Masaさんにも会うて欲しいし、時間ある？」
そんな面白いチャンスなかなかないし、待つよね、普通。w
昼間は、がっつり意見のすり合わせをしてたからそれはそれでよかったんよね。
それでぼくがもうすぐ帰ろうと思ってたら現れた。

色々話をすると、とても興味深い。
やってること、あんまり変わらん。産学連携と言ってしまえばそうなんだろうけど、地元住民やハワイにきてるアメリカ本土の生徒もしっかり巻き込んでるところとが、すごいと思ったね。
ハワイも農業が主産業のひとつで、まだまだ競争力という面では劣ってたんだけど、彼女の様々な工夫でずいぶん改善されたと思う。

いろいろなプレイヤーをまとめあげてプロジェクトを作り上げていくのって、十分立派なBusiness Producerだなーって思った。
今までやってきたことにすごい近いし、これからもこの方向は変わっていかないと思うんで、すごく参考になった。
日本でのインターンもあと少しみたいだけど、また会って、ゆっくり話したいなーって思える１日やったです。
次回、京都でのTEDxは、４月７日に、TED Change があります。
